“What are the Bodie Hills?” you may ask. They are a small mountain range east of the Sierra Nevada, north of Mono Lake, about two-thirds in Mono County, California, and about one-third in Mineral and Lyon Counties, Nevada. They straddle the transition zone between floras of the eastern Sierra Nevada and the Great Basin. I’ve been botanizing there since the late 1970s.
